At this event, each kid will create a life-sized self-portrait that you will be able to take home with you as a snapshot of this moment in time in terms of both their size and their self-expression. Art for kids often involves sitting at a table and focusing hard on using those fine motor skills. Which is great! But you'll be amazed at what gets unlocked in your child when art gets BIG. Take their art into the gross-motor category with this life-size portrait workshop and see what happens when your kid can use big impact movements on the page.
All materials for this workshop will be provided, including a choice of cake watercolors and/or solid tempera paint sticks depending on the comfort level and preference of you and your child. Please have kids and adults wear clothes that are able to get messy - you may want to create this piece together!
This is NOT a drop-off event. Kids will be required to be accompanied and supervised by an adult at all times. Please RVSP for the number of kids attending.
The first time I did this with my own daughter, she was 4 years old. She asked me to paint her skirt (with very specific instructions) and she painted the rest. I loved the result so much that this piece is framed in our dining room. We've made many portraits since, and this first one will always hold a special place in my heart and home.
Spots are limited, and are issued on a first-come, first-serve basis.
